a portrait of Luke SkywalkerThese sizes will all fit standard size frames. I would very much like to switch from stretched canvases to canvas panels. Both are archival, but more and more I'm hearing that oil paint on a flexible canvas surface isn't as long-lasting as oil on panels. Did you know the Mona Lisa was painted on a panel? Also, panels will allow you not to have to check to see if a frame's rabbet is deep enough to hold your canvas. A panel will fit into any kind of frame. But please tell me if you'd prefer a stretched canvas, and I'll arrange that instead.

All portraits are to be painted from CLEAR, reasonably-sized photos (so I can see things properly) provided by the client. These prices are for one person or animal to be pictured. Additional figures/faces: add $50 each. And yes, I can combine figures from different photos, but do try to keep the light source from the same direction. If not, perhaps I can fake the right light.

Do you live nearby and need photos? I can come by and take a bunch for $55 extra, and send you a CD of the session for you to choose from. I can also mix and match backgrounds so that you can have a garden background or interior, etc. Just as long as I have a photo to work from for it as well as the person.

A non-refundable deposit of one-third the price is required. Please allow up to 3 months for the painting to be completed and be dry enough to ship. Oils need varnishing. I will hand deliver or ship the finished portrait to you with a coat of retouch varnish on it, but after 6 months it needs to have a permanent varnish put on. If you live within a 45 minute drive of Hillsborough, NC, I will pick up the picture, varnish it, and bring it back to you after it's had 3 days to dry. If you don't live nearby, you can take the portrait to a framer or artist to have them varnish it, but the cost for that will be on you. I can't imagine that they'd charge big bucks for it.

Buy now! As I get more practice and samples under my belt, my prices will rise. Portraits are an investment. They can be enjoyed for generations to come if handled properly.
